The “What,” “Wear” and “How”

What Wear How: Prepare For Your Photo Session | Melody Yazdani Studios | Now Booking

Once you’ve reserved your portrait session, it’s time to start thinking about “what, wear, and how”.

That doesn’t mean anxiously tapping your nails and counting down the seconds—it means it’s time to get excited. This is all about making you look and feel fantastic, which means you’ll be preparing for a day of fun and fabulousness! Plus, we’ll be here to help you every step of the way.

1. Don’t be afraid to look great!

Wear outfits that you feel AWESOME wearing. You don’t have to go the route of lacy lingerie and G-strings if you’re not comfortable in them (though you can go that route if you want to!).

Like we’ve said before : Producing gorgeous, sexy portraits aren’t just about wearing traditional boudoir clothing. There are a ton of ways to achieve the look you want with unconventional boudoir outfits like off-the-shoulder t-shirts or fitted dresses.

At the end of the day, it’s all about confidence, and the more beautiful you feel, the more beautiful you’ll look! Don’t force yourself into something uncomfortable that you would never normally wear.

2. Don’t be afraid of color.

Fun, colorful outfits make your portraits pop! Your portraits will reflect your unique style and inner beauty, so don’t be afraid to show us who you are—or how bold you are. And if you’re head is stuck on “black is slimming”, don’t worry about it. Wear your favorite colors and let us make you look amazing with the right poses and lighting.

On the other hand, do try to stick to the same color family (jewel tones, pastels, neutrals, etc..), and go easy on patterns, stripes, and neons. We highly recommend opting for textural details like lace, sequin, knit, and sheer fabrics, all of which photograph beautifully.

If you’re having trouble choosing the perfect outfits, don’t stress! We’ll help you make the best possible selections during your Style&Design Consultation or you can start by making a pre photoshoot inspiration board on Pinterest!

3. Make sure you’re ready for hair and makeup.

That means arriving with a clean, dry face and clean, dry hair so that our professionals can start from scratch to get you all glammed up.

4. Don’t forget about the details!

Unique jewelry and accessories make for fun layers of textures. This is also the perfect excuse to break out your sexiest pair of shoes—pumps, thigh-high boots, even those 6-inch heels you bought but can’t walk a straight line in. (Especially those.)

Don’t neglect your nails, either! Small details make a big difference. We suggest going in for a mani/pedi prior to your session and opting for a natural color or uncolored French tips for your fingernails.

5. Let us know what you’re thinking before your shoot!

Worried about something in particular? Have a part of yourself you’re still learning to love? Fantasizing about a particular look for your portraits? Let us know!

Use our “what, wear, and how” system as a way to prepare so when you show up you feel confident and ready to go! Your portraits are about expressing your beauty, inside and out. The more we get to know you, the better we’re able to show you off!
